Hailing from Boston with a life like a dreamy montage. One moment he’s surrounded by bulky 80s rack stacks in his a/v tech dads mobile production lab, Jazz on the hi-fi. Next, on a commune in the forest, with his psychic Gemini mother and his yin-yang twin brother, sounds of laughter lofting from the lake. I’d say he was born under a RAD sign. For Bright Boy, music was always just a part of life. Memories of dropping rhymes on walks home as a youth, beatboxing and cracking jokes. Picking up sticks and busting a slick break his first time sitting at a kit. His brilliant skills on stage come from his natural good humor and impromptu impersonations of everybody’s favorite cartoons. Which characters? All of them. Theme songs? Yep. To the T with a comedic twist on top.

Like a lot of artists he slowed down his whirlwind world by recreating things that made him happy, helped him escape, but for “Brother Nature” creation has always been second nature. He could draw all the comic and anime styles by the time he moved to Portland. New, he would chill downtown and sketch quick caricatures of people he met. Cyphering in the park with some other MCs, shining his creative spark through rap and, soon after, doing impressions in the soulful tone of the music he grew up on.

Beatboxing for the cyphers led to humming, then singing, then being the center of 20 deep party acapella circles soaring to new musical heights seldom seen. Rocking hip-hop open mics and being a man about town, being homies with Teal Child and Roach Dad, it was a natural, glove in hand fit for Bright Boy, the most adored underdog, to be the lead singer and Voltron head of the Altered Gee.
